The day begins at dawn, and San Diego seems to wake up. We arrive at a place that was discovered in 1542 by the first European sailor Juan Rodriguez Cabrillo. The fog is all around us and it is becoming mysteriously. This morning is not the warmest, but it is so nice to have goose bumps, as it turns out not only because of the weather. Visiting Old Point Loma takes us to distant times with the aura of mystery. The view from the hills is breathtaking and the level of romanticism makes the heart beat faster : ) I have already written about this unique place earlier – https://www.jestemwlesie.pl/cabrillo/. So, we start our date with the city and we have more appetite.

The fog leaves us as we leave the Old Point Loma. The day is awake and the first, shy rays of the sun are stroking our faces. We go to the port town. Charming streets woven with tiny shops. Finally, I get a cup of aromatic coffee and I admire rows of yachts walking along the harbor. It’s really very romantic and not overdone with the romance (in the end everything that is too much is not good ; ) ) we head towards the USS Midway that can be seen from the long distance. Huge ship nearly 300 meters long, the ship that got retired in San Diego’s. That was the first US Navy aircraft carrier which entered the service immediately after World War II. It served in the US Army during the Vietnam War and Iraq during Operation Desert Storm. Since 2004 the aircraft carrier has been serving as a museum.

Remember the movie “Some Like It Hot” with stunning Marilyn Monroe in the lead role? The next point of our trip will be a place well known to all the enthusiasts of this film. I close my eyes going on probably the longest bridge I’ve ever been, and when I open my eyes, I move in my minds to 1959 when Sugar Kane was looking for her future husband among the millionaires on the beach and in that hotel. Although she did not find the millionaire, she found love of her life. <3 So, you can fall deeply in love in Coronado.

In contrast to the modern Gaslamp in front of us Historic Old Town. The first Spanish colonial settlement was built in 1769. The town is incredibly charming and looks like a living out of the western world. Houses with huge verandas. And also those small with backyard stables. There is a school, a historic post office and a saloon where you can enjoy a local beer. It is a climate, and the temperature rises dangerously high, adding a place of desert charm.

The day is over, but we do not have enough. We reach the rocky cliffs of La Jolla, where we admire the sunken sea lions, and in the distance on the rocky island penguins are tending. Is beautifully. I look at the horizon and I feel very calm. So well I know what he means : ) I’m in love <3
