Moja wizyta w Seattle zaczęła się od murali w SoDo i zakończyła na muralach w SoDo, a dokładniej w kolejce z lotniska, która zabrała nas z lotniska do miasta i po kilku dniach z miasta na lotnisko i zapewniła kilka niezapomnianych artystycznych wrażeń. Zapraszam do obejrzenia moich zdjęć, które pamiętają, że miałam nieco zmarznięte dłonie, a może to pociąg za szybko jechał. ; )

Mural Amphitheatre

I put this piece of art in the street art category, but it should be definitely in the museum. It’s here because it’s outside and it’s freely available, which makes me very happy, when the art goes outside. And when it combines what I love the most – nature and art – I fully appreciate it and I dream to come back and sit someday on the blanket enjoying this view for a longer, unhurried moment. And in front of us we have the work of the artist Paul Horiuchi from 1962, containing colorful panels made of Venetian glass. The work reflecting sounds is a beautiful acoustic background for the scene of the amphitheater. This work has been moved to the amphitheater by the architect Paul Thiry. It consists of 160 shades of glass mosaic arranged on 54 concrete panels and is 17 feet tall and 60 feet wide. There is something to admire! ; )

Poniższą pracę umieściłam także w kategorii street art, jednak zdecydowanie powinna być w muzeum. Jest tutaj ponieważ znajduje się na zewnątrz i jest ogólnie dostępna co bardzo mnie cieszy, kiedy sztuka ta przez duże S wychodzi na zewnątrz, a kiedy łączy to co kocham najbardziej – naturę i sztukę jestem pełna uznania i marzę, aby kiedyś móc wrócić tutaj i zasiąść na kocyku delektując się tym właśnie widokiem dłuższą, niespieszną chwilę. A przed nami praca artysty Paul Horiuchi z 1962 roku, zawierająca kolorowe panele wykonane z weneckiego szkła. Praca odbijając dźwięki jest pięknym akustycznym tłem dla sceny amfiteatru. Praca przeniesiona na budynek amfiteatru przez architekta Paula Thiry,ego. Składa się ze 160 odcieni szklanej mozaiki ułożonej na 54 betonowych panelach i mierzy 17 stóp wysokości i 60 stóp szerokości. Jest co podziwiać! ; )

The most disgusting street art I’ve ever seen.

I am a huge fan of street art for a long time, but what I will see in a moment will question the rightness of doing art using everything. And exactly using chewed gum. The Market Theater Gum Wall (that’s its official name) and as I’ll find out later (looking for explanations of this thing on the internet) it’s a very famous wall. It was initiatied in 1993 by rather accidental use of chewing gum to attach coins to the theater wall (hmmm). Then local residents more and more often stuck next chewing gums to the brick wall, sometimes creating small paintings or inscriptions. The theater management removed the gums, but finally gave up after seeing that their wall began to attract many curious people and became a cult place. Since 2009, The Market Theater Gum Wall has been recognized as one of the most interesting attractions of the city, attracting tourists, honeymooners eager to photograph themselves against the chewed gum (depends who likes what) as well as film directors, for whom it has also become a romantic symbol and a piece of collective art. Whether someone likes it or not, it is definitely a great attraction and it’s probably better to stick chewing gum on this wall than under a school bench ; ) because no one will treat it as art ; ) and instead of recognition, you can get a note.

Najbardziej obrzydliwy street art jaki widziałam. 

Jestem ogromną fanką street artu nie od dzisiaj, ale to co za chwilę zobaczę zakwestionuje nieco słuszność robienia sztuki ze wszystkiego. A dokładnie z przeżutych gum balonowych. The Market Theatre Gum Wall (Gumowa ściana), bo taka jest jego oficjalna nazwa i jak się dowiem później (szukając wyjaśnień na powstanie tego czegoś w internecie) jest to bardzo sławna gumowa ściana. Zainicjowana w 1993 roku dosyć przypadkowym zastosowaniem gumy do żucia celem przymocowania monet do opłaty za teatr coraz częściej lokalni mieszkańcy w oczekiwaniu na teatr przyklejali do murowanej ściany kolejne gumy do żucia, tworząc czasem małe obrazy lub napisy. Władze teatru usuwały gumy, ale wreszcie dali za wygraną widząc, że ich ściana zaczyna przyciągać wielu ciekawskich i po mału staje się miejscem kultowym. Od 2009 roku Gumowa Ściana uznana została, za jedno z ciekawszych atrakcji miasta przyciągając tym samym turystów, nowożeńców chętnie fotografujących się na tle przeżutych gum ( co kto lubi ) a także reżyserów filmowych, dla których także stała się romantycznym symbolem i dziełem sztuki zbiorowej. Czy się ściana komuś podoba czy nie, to zdecydowanie stanowi ogromną atrakcję i chyba lepiej przykleić przeżutą gumę do tej ściany niż pod ławkę w szkole ; ) bo tego nikt nie odbierze za sztukę ; ) a zamiast uznania można dostać uwagę do dziennika.
